If you don't have the time to visit a Hungarian winery, the House of Hungarian Wines - Buda Castle (Magyar Borok Háza - Budai Vár) in Budapest is a great place to sample a large selection of Hungarian wine from the country's 22 wine regions. Located in Castle Hill in the cellars of a Neo-Gothic building, formerly home to the pre-war Ministry of Finance, the House of Hungarian Wines has over 500 bottles on display. The different sampling selections let you taste a variety of Hungarian wine and include a guided tour of the cellar and tasting notes (available in English, German and Hungarian) as well as snacks to accompany the wine tasting. The wine tasting and the tour provide an insight into the history and character of Hungary's wine regions. In addition to the large selection of Hungarian wine, pálinka specialities, a type of fruit brandy unique to Hungary, and a selection of hand made cheese are also available.
