Located next to the legendary Hadik Coffee House (and under the same management), Szatyor Bar & Galeria is a cheerful place aiming for a younger crowd. With contemporary art exhibits held regularly, Szatyor is today’s version of Hadik.
They serve a small selection of appetizers, snacks, soups and entrées as well as an inexpensive prefix lunch menu on weekdays. The lounge-style seating on the second floor is ideal for coffee and desserts.
Szatyor means bag in Hungarian and the name was given by the famous Hungarian novelist Frigyes Karinthy (1887-1938). When he stepped into the place his first impression was that the interior looked like a bag because the material that once covered the wall was also used to make bags in those days.
