The building that houses Le Méridien Budapest was built between 1914 and 1918 as a pre-modern office and apartment building for the Italian Adria Insurance Company. Significant fire damage from a World War II bomb brought an end to the offices, shops and apartments of the Adria Palace and the building was converted into the headquarters of the Budapest Police department. The police moved out in 1997 and Le Méridien Budapest opened in 2000 following a complete reconstruction.
Combining old world style with excellent service and state-of-the-art amenities Le Méridien Budapest has received several awards and recognitions including the Connoisseurs' Choice 2002 and 2003 by Resorts & Great Hotels and the International Five Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Le Méridien Budapest is also a member of the Leading Hotels of the World.
Hotel amenities include a health club and spa (with an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath), outdoor tennis courts, a brasserie-style restaurant, Le Bourbon, Atrium Café, and the Adria Palace Bar with live music.
