Established in 2009, the Quarter6Quarter7 Festival commemorates the annual Hanukkah celebrations of light and miracles in Budapest's former Jewish Quarter. In 2011 the festival dates (Dec. 20-28) coincide with Christmas, which makes the programs even more interesting. Festivities include flash mobs, candle lighting, live music, theater performances, film screenings, culinary events and guided walking tours. Visitors can learn about Jewish culture and its heritage in downtown Budapest at over 18 cultural venues, restaurants, clubs and ruin pubs participating in the festival.
For more info on the many programs and the festival card, which is free this year and entitles visitors to a number of discounts, visit the festival's website.
Happy Hanukkah!
