The 2012 Budapest Fringe Festival has been cancelled.
The annual Budapest Fringe Festival, the Hungarian version of the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is held on the Broadway of Pest and it coincides with the last three days of the Budapest Spring Festival. Venues like the Thália Theater, the Mai Mano House of Photography, the Polish Institute along with Fogasház, Instant, Sirály, Crazy Café and more, welcome artists and performers of all genres. Ever since its creation, Fringe has been an open festival providing an opportunity to aspiring artists and amateur groups to showcase their talents. Anyone can register for their 15-minutes of fame or maybe even to get noticed.
The Budapest Fringe Festival features over 100 performances ranging from jazz and rock music to poetry, theater and modern dance and anything you can imagine in between. Everyone is welcome, attendance is free of charge, and there are plenty of programs for kids.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, held in August, is one of the biggest annual festivals in the world.
