The Tasting Table is a combination of a wine shop, wine bar, and education center. Located in the eight district Palace Quarter in the cellar of a grand 19th century palace, The Tasting Table has the feel of an intimate wine cellar. With its vaulted brick ceilings, copper light fixtures, and checkered-tables made from salvaged wood, it is a casual and welcoming place, with a unique selection of wine.
The Tasting Table focuses on high-quality Hungarian and Central European wines, particularly on local varietals. Many of the wines (as well as the food products that they carry) come from very small producers, whose products aren’t widely available elsewhere. There is a regularly-changing wine list with about a dozen wines by the glass (and several flights), and the sommelier is always around to chat about the wines and the local wine culture. The signature cheese and charcuterie boards feature delicious local cheeses and cured meats from small producers from around the country. The Tasting Table holds wine tasting classes, and its Thursdays @The Tasting Table series is regular lineup of a variety of food and wine events. The place can also be booked for private tastings and events.
The Tasting Table is brought to you by Taste Hungary, a tour company passionate about introducing the foods and wines of Hungary to travelers. They offer half-day walking tours and evening wine tasting tours in Budapest, as well as full-day wine tours (group and private) to Hungary’s wine regions.
