Update February 3, 2012: Due to Malév's demise Ryanair is upping it's expansion plan to 4 brand new Boeing 737-800 aircrafts at Budapest Airport and 31 new routes, as of February 17, 2012.

According to the official press release (January 24, 2012) Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will relaunch its Budapest flights from March 12, 2012. Ryanair, the biggest discount airline in Europe, is not new to the Hungarian market as they previously operated direct flights to Budapest until 2010. With the new flights just around the corner, Ryanair also announced a big seat sale starting from EUR 9.99. Discount Ryanair tickets for the new routes will be available starting January 25th.

"Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (24th Jan) announced it would open 5 new routes from Budapest to Birmingham, Bologna, Bristol, Dublin and London (Stansted) from March 2012 which will deliver 200,000 passengers p.a. and create up to 200 local jobs at Budapest Airport.

Ryanair celebrated its new Budapest routes by releasing 1 million seats, from €9.99, for travel on Tues, Wed and Thurs in late February and early March, which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (26th Jan).
