Christmas trams in Budapest
Christmas trams are back again for the holiday season in Budapest. This year, each tram is decorated with over 35,000 lights.
In the 2015 holiday season Christmas trams run from December 4, 2015 to January 6, 2016 on the following three lines:
- No. 2 - between Jászai Mari tér and Közvágóhíd, along the Danube Promenade on the Pest side (every day, except Fridays and Saturdays)
- No. 4 - between Újbuda-központ and Széll Kálmán tér, on the Grand Boulevard (every Saturday)
- No. 47 - between Városház tér and Deák Ferenc tér (every Friday)
Christmas trams operate in the evenings, starting around 4:00 pm. All regular tickets and passes are valid on Budapest's Christmas trams. There is no service on December 24th and 31st.
Tip: Take tram No. 2 - ranked #7 on National Geographic's 'Top 10 Trolley Rides' - for a beautiful and inexpensive sightseeing tour along the Danube Promenade and see the city all lighted up.
