Looking for some ice time in Budapest?

If you feel like hitting the ice on a brisk winter evening Budapest has several options, including Europe's largest outdoor skating rink.

City Park Ice Rink (Városligeti Műjégpálya)

The lake in front of Vajdahunyad Castle is used for boating in the summer and is transformed into Europe's largest outdoor ice-skating rink in the winter. Imagine skating at the foot of a Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque castle - all at once. It's an impressive venue where all of Budapest skates. Being an open-air facility, the ice rink is open from mid-November until the end of February. Skates can be rented.

In 2013, the Műjégpálya ice-skating rink opened on November 28th. Admission is HUF 1,500 on weekdays and HUF 2,000 on weekends.

Ice Terrace (Jégterasz)

This outdoor ice skating rink is located on a former race track next to the Arena Plaza Shopping Center. It's the perfect place to shop and skate. Admission is HUF 1,100 on weekdays (HUF 800 for children) and HUF 1,300 on weekends (HUF 900 for children). Skates can be rented.

Ice Rink by the Basilica

This small ice-rink is open from Advent to New Year during the 'Christmas Fair by the Basilica'.

Opening hours: Monday - Thursday 11:30 am to 8 pm, Friday 10:30 am to 10 pm, Saturday 10 am to 10 pm, Sunday 10 am to 8 pm

Budai Ice Rink (Budai Jégpálya)

This small, indoor ice rink, located opposite the Mammut II Shopping Mall, is open to the general public on weekends only. During the week it's used by sports teams for training.

Marczibányi Sport Centrum

This sport center, located next to the Millenáris, has an indoor ice rink that is open daily.
